Q1: What are the main applications of Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF)?
A1: Our PSF has two main grades. Spinning grade (1.2D~1.5D × 38/51mm, solid, 2D crimp) is used for cotton spinning, ring spinning, vortex spinning to produce apparel, home textiles, sewing thread, and industrial fabrics. Filling grade (3D~15D × 64mm, 3D crimp, hollow or solid, siliconized) is used for pillows, cushions, sofas, toys, mattresses, automotive interiors, and non-wovens.
Q2: Where is Low Melt Fiber (LMF) applied?
A2: Low melt fiber (4D×51mm or 2D×51mm, sheath-core) melts its sheath at 110-130°C to bond surrounding fibers. It is widely used in rigid wadding (mattress, sofa lining), non-adhesive cotton, automotive interior parts, shoe stiffeners, filter media, and air-through nonwovens (e.g., absorbent layer for sanitary napkins and diapers) as an eco-friendly thermal bonding material replacing chemical adhesives.
Q3: What is HCS fiber specially used for?
A3: HCS = Hollow + Conjugated (3D crimp) + Siliconized. It provides lightweight warmth (hollow), high resilience (3D crimp), and a soft, non-clumping feel (silicone). Applications: premium pillows, quilts, mattress toppers, down-alternative jackets, cushions, stuffed toys, automotive acoustic insulation, and sofa filling. Fine denier HCS (0.9D~1.5D) is what we call down-like fiber.
Q4: What is the difference between down-like fiber and ordinary filling fiber?
A4: Down-like fiber is a fine-denier (0.8D~1.5D) HCS designed to mimic real down – light, soft, warm. It is hollow, 3D crimped, and siliconized, much softer than ordinary filling (e.g., 3D solid). It is used for premium quilts, down jackets, hotel pillows. Important: down-like fiber is for filling only, not for spinning.
Q5: Why can't siliconized fiber be used for spinning?
A5: Spinning requires surface friction so fibers can hold together and be twisted into yarn. Siliconized fiber is too smooth – it causes slippage, breakage, and high hairiness. Spinning fiber uses anti-static spin finish, not silicone oil. If a soft-handfeel yarn is needed, we recommend micro-denier solid fiber (0.8D~1.2D) with a suitable finish – not silicone.
Q6: What are the main applications of Viscose Staple Fiber (VSF) and Lyocell?
A6: Both are regenerated cellulose fibers but with different performance.
-
Viscose (1.0D~1.5D × 38mm): excellent moisture regain, soft, good drape – used in knitted underwear, loungewear, shirts, sheets, and spunlace nonwovens (wipes, facial masks).
-
Lyocell (1.33dtex~1.67dtex × 38mm): higher wet strength, eco-friendly, very soft – used in premium apparel, spunlace nonwovens, medical dressings, and high-end home textiles.
Q7: Which fiber do you recommend for spunlace non-woven production?
A7: Spunlace requires uniform fiber, low defects, and precise cut length. We recommend:
-
Polyester: 1.2D~1.5D × 38mm, semi-dull or full dull, tenacity ≥5.5cN/dtex.
-
Viscose: 1.3~1.7dtex × 38mm, high whiteness, moderate wet strength.
-
Lyocell: 1.33~1.67dtex × 38mm, higher wet strength and biodegradable.
Blending them adjusts fabric softness, strength, and cost.
Q8: Why is recycled low melt fiber sometimes more expensive than virgin?
A8: Recycled low-melt fiber requires stricter cleaning, sorting, and modification to ensure stable sheath melting point, low impurities, and good strength. Chemical recycling or special upgrading is often needed for consistent bonding. With GRS certification costs and fluctuating bottle-scrap prices, some recycled LMF grades are actually more expensive than virgin.
